Every year is a sweet surprise. I treasure the experience of sitting before people I hardly know and, slowly, accept an invitation to hear their story, a glimpse behind the veil, into their hearts. Each story so extraordinarily different, yet similarly rooted in deep bonds of affection. In this process, I am gifted the opportunity to study, to see, to uncover the nuances of connection and what that means to each couple. Often I discover uniqueness in the way two people hold each other, how they touch, laugh, or struggle to hold back tears. It is in these moments where I witness meaningful experience and the essence of connection. Capturing these moments, to me, is the purpose of wedding photography; that a photograph invites you in, eliciting emotion and recalling memory from the recesses into the present. I am so grateful to those of you who entrusted me with the task of documenting your incredible joy and vulnerability. To bear witness to your sacred experience is an honor.
The criteria for best wedding photography is subjective, of course. There are a hundred ways to define it and many ways I define it myself. But it would be impossible to include all my favorite wedding photos from the year if evaluated on all those standards. So, I’ve chosen my favorite authentic moments, with a couple portrait exceptions snuck in. I hope you can feel into the moment. Enjoy…
